Winning Web Summit Pitch Competition 2016

The 10th of November, our CEO Tommy Otzen stood in front of 15.000 spectators pitching the importance of preparing our children for a technology-driven world, where AI and robotics are taking over manual and intellectual jobs. 1.500 applied to join the pitch competition, 200 were selected and only one won! 100.000 EUR in investments has been offered to KUBO Robot by Portugal Ventures.

Seed investment from Scandinavian IT Company

September 29, 2016

In September 2016, it was announced that a large Scandinavian IT Company, KMD, has made a seed investment in KUBO. KMD’s largest growth area is within the educational sector and has many years of experience in this field. Through KMD’s experience within the educational sector, we have a better foundation for understanding and collaborating with schools, which is going to ensure that KUBO helps as many children as possible obtain important 21st-century skills.

Entrepreneurial Pilot

In September 2016, we were accepted into the program Entrepreneurial Pilot by Innovation Fund Denmark, which gives an economic basis for being able to work with the design and development of KUBO. Through the Entrepreneurial Pilot, we’re also able to come and meet all you guys through conferences such as Web Summit (Lissabon), SLUSH (Helsinki), Scale-It (Silicon Valley), CES (Las Vegas) and Bett Show (London). We joined Odense Robotics Start-up Hub

In the summer of 2016, we were accepted by the board of Odense Robotics to join the Start-up Hub, which is an accelerator program, which helps robotics start-ups grow into economically sustainable companies by helping the start-ups find the right partners and through grants for consultation within research and developments. Micro Grants

February 1, 2015

We received the Micro Grant from “Fonden for Entreprenørskab” twice during 2015. The first Micro Grant was for the development of new prototypes, which were used for testing the KUBO in a larger setting – a full classroom. The second Micro Grant was used for patents and trademark protection.

Kubo started as a research project

September 1, 2014

KUBO started as a research project in Social Technology Lab at the University of Southern Denmark. The aim was to find a new and better way to teach children how to code without using a screen or digital interface. This led to the creation of Kubo – an educational robot for small children, which is going to lay the foundation for understanding and working with coding and technology.
