In the classroom

Build the route, place KUBO, watch it run

A first lesson with the KUBO Coding Starter Set: screen-free, hands-on and collaborative.

  1. Three students at a classroom table snapping TagTiles into routes on activity maps, with the KUBO robot and the Starter Set box
1 Students snap TagTiles® together to write the program, one command per tile.
  2. A young student places the KUBO robot onto a row of TagTiles
2 Then they place KUBO at the start of the route.
  3. The KUBO robot driving across TagTiles on a desk while two students watch
3 KUBO reads each tile as it drives and runs the code, with light and sound feedback.

About this set

Coding you can hold

The KUBO Coding Starter Set is where every KUBO journey begins. Using the TagTile® coding language, students lay the foundations of computational thinking, building routes, then functions, loops and subroutines, entirely screen-free.

Each TagTile® is a command the robot reads and runs. Students snap tiles together like a puzzle, place KUBO on the sequence, and watch it drive the route across the map. Because there is no screen to manage and no app to launch, the whole class is hands-on from the first minute, and no coding experience is needed to teach it.

The robot

Sized for small hands and classroom tables

A two-part robot, head and body, that reads each TagTile® it drives over. It charges over Micro-USB and answers with lights and sounds, so students see and hear their code run.

“When I saw KUBO I thought it would be easy to use, but I didn't think it would be soooo easy to use! I was up and going the day the boxes arrived. No lengthy training or tutorial needed. We got to the cool stuff right away!”
Dana Cochrane Elementary teacher, United States
“KUBO is very intuitive. Students can just get started. I don't have to give complex instructions because with KUBO, kids can figure things out for themselves!”
Rikke Lohman Elementary teacher, Denmark

Every add-on uses the same robot and map, so one Starter Set grows from first routes to variables, math and music.
